Angela Reyes, MPH
Executive Director and Founder, Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation (DHDC)
A lifelong resident and community activist in Southwest Detroit, Angela Reyes started Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation (DHDC) in 1997 from her living room “because [she] was tired of burying children '' who were dying due to gang violence. Today DHDC provides comprehensive services to over 10,000 youth and adults each year, and organizes around critical issues affecting the Latino community. She is the mother of four adult children, grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of six. She received her Master’s in Public Health from U of M in 1998.
